What can laser treatment help you with?

Laser vaginal Rejuvenation can help number of vaginal and vulval symptoms

Laser treatment is for all age groups. It can help women suffering with distressing conditions at different phases of life.

As women approach and go through menopause, hormonal changes – including lower levels of oestrogen in the body – can lead to uncomfortable symptoms, including vaginal dryness, itching, and discomfort. Laser  treatment can help relieve these symptoms by rejuvenating the vaginal tissue. This treatment is safe, reliable and can offer an effective solution for women looking to improve their overall quality of life, sexual wellbeing, and confidence during menopause.

On the other hand It is useful for younger women. It helps new mothers who suffer with vaginal laxity and mild incontinence, ladies with urinary incontinence and recurrent cystitis as well as number of vulval conditions.

How Does this treatment Work?

Laser application to vagina gently stimulate collagen production and improve the condition of the vaginal tissue. The laser delivers controlled energy to the vaginal walls, which then encourages the tissue to regenerate and repair itself. This process increases moisture, elasticity, and improves the overall health of the vaginal area. For this reason, it proves very effective for women who are experiencing everything from vaginal dryness, to pain during sex.

Vaginal Dryness:

Reduced oestrogen levels during menopause often result in vaginal dryness, which can cause discomfort during everyday activities, exercise, and sex. CO2 laser treatment stimulates natural moisture production, easing this common, often highly unpleasant symptom.

Studies suggest that treatment with the fractional CO2 laser was effective and induced a significant improvement of VVA symptoms by ameliorating vaginal health in postmenopausal women. Further controlled studies are underway to look into this evidence.

Helping Breast Cancer survivors:

Vaginal Dryness is particularly bothersome for breast cancer survivors. This group of women’s are likely to be on medications to block oestrogenic effect. ( tamoxifen, Letrozole or similar group of medications). They are particularly bothered with vulvovaginal atrophy. This ladies should be aware of availability of this treatment .they are usually offered 6 sessions of treatment.

The treatment with fractionated CO2 laser appeared to be a feasible and effective treatment for VVA and dyspareunia in breast cancer survivors with contraindications to hormonal treatments

Lichen Sclerosis:

This skin condition – which can cause thinning, itching, and irritation in the genital area – can seriously affect a woman’s wellbeing. laser helps improve the skin’s elasticity and promotes healing, offering relief from the discomfort associated with lichen sclerosis.

On assessing Visual analogue scale (VAS) on patients who had treatment the degree of vulvar pruritus, skin chapping , dyspareunia before and after treatment  the rate improvement of VLS symptoms was 90.32% (28/31) with fractional CO2 laser

Itching and Irritation:

Hormonal changes can lead to sensitive vaginal skin, which may cause itching and irritation. This treatment soothes the tissue by encouraging healthier skin regeneration.

Pain During Intercourse:

Many women experience pain during sex, due to thinning and dryness of the vaginal tissue. laser works by helping to restore elasticity and hydration to the vagina, and has helped many women to feel more confident and comfortable during sex.

Urge incontinence:

This is when bladder muscles are overactive, and can cause women to suddenly feel the need to pee, which can cause involuntary leaks. MonaLisa Touch laser therapy can help to calm the bladder nerves, by soothing the tissue around this area.

Recurrent urinary infections:

Laser vaginal treatment, often involving CO2 laser therapy, is being explored as a potential treatment for recurrent cystitis, particularly in post-menopausal women. This approach aims to improve vaginal health, reduce inflammation, and address symptoms associated with recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Laser treatment works stimulating collagen production, leading to increased vaginal wall thickness and elasticity, which can improve overall vaginal health. It helps to reduce inflammation in the vaginal tissue, which may contribute to recurrent UTIs.

Some studies suggest that fractional CO2 laser therapy can be effective in treating recurrent, post-coital, and interstitial cystitis,.

Patients have reported improvements in bladder pain, urinary frequency, and urgency, according to clinicaltrials.
Laser therapy may help reduce the frequency of UTI occurrences, potentially decreasing the need for frequent antibiotic treatments.

Though Laser therapy is not a complete cure for cystitis, but it can be a valuable tool for managing symptoms and preventing recurrent UTIs.

In summary, laser vaginal treatment is emerging as a potential treatment option for recurrent cystitis, offering a non-hormonal approach to improve vaginal health and potentially reduce UTI frequency. While more research is needed, the preliminary evidence suggests it can be a valuable tool for managing symptoms and improving quality of life in women with recurrent cystitis, says NIH.
